FRACTIONS, RATIO, PROPORTIONS AND PERCENTAGES
Fractions, ratios, proportions and percentages are unavoidable in Mathematics.
What is a Fraction?
A fraction tells us how many parts or portion of a whole we have. You can recognize a fraction by the slash that is written between the two numbers. The top number is called the numerator, and the bottom number, the denominator. For example, ¾ is a fraction. You can write it with a slanted slash like we have or you can write the 3 on top of the 4 with the straight line or slash between the two numbers. The 3 is the numerator, and the 4 is the denominator.
Types of Fractions
There are 3 types of fractions. Proper fractions are those fractions where the numerator is less than the denominator. An improper fraction is a fraction where the numerator is greater than the denominator. For example, the fraction 3/8 is a proper fraction, where 8/3 is an improper fraction. A mixed fraction has a whole number and a proper fraction.
What is a ratio?
A ratio is a comparison of the relative values of numbers or quantities. The numbers called terms of a ratio are usually separated by a colon (:). We can write a ratio for any statement containing comparisons. For example, if we have 2 cars and 4 houses in a compound, what is the ratio of cars to houses? The answer is 2: 4, which means for every car there are 2 houses.
Fraction versus Ratio
A fraction tells us how many parts or portion of a whole; a ratio compares two quantities or numbers.
What is a Proportion?
A proportion is a name we give to a statement that two ratios are equal. Simply put, we have a proportion when 2 ratios are equal in their simplest form regardless of the magnitude. 1:2 = 2:4; 10:20; 6:12; 111:222 etc. because these ratios when reduced to their simplest form equals 1: 2
Ratio versus Proportion
A ratio compares two numbers or quantities; a proportion is an expression of two equal ratios.
What is a percentage?
A percentage is a ratio/fraction/proportion whose denominator is 100. Per cent means per hundred. Percentage helps us to make general comparisons by bringing all values to a common denominator which is 100.
Fraction versus Percentage
A fraction is a part of a whole: a percentage is a part per hundred.

Hi. I have checked your palmstutor.com.ng and i see you’ve got some duplicate content so probably it is the reason that you don’t rank
high in google. But you can fix this issue fast.
