Laws of exponents
Laws of exponents are rules that govern solving equations involving exponents. The number written in superscript on top of a number is the exponent and it tells us how many times to use the number in a multiplication. Indices, exponents, power or order all mean the same thing.
In Mathematics, Exponents or Indices are a useful tool in to neatly represent the process of taking a power or a root of a number. It saves us the time of having to write larger numbers before multiplying. However, it is important to clearly understand the concept as well as the laws of indices to be able to apply them appropriately.
In this course you will learn and hopefully understand the application of the laws of indices or laws of exponents. The course attempts to provide answers to the following questions:
How to use multiplication and division laws of indices?
In what way do you use zero and negative laws of indices?
How to use power and root laws of indices?
We will first understand how to write a number with an index, followed by the laws governing it. So let’s begin!
